Growing up, my parents always impressed upon me that if there is a relationship that means something to you, it’s your duty to prove that it is important. It’s a commitment that can be inconvenient and it isn’t always reciprocated, but it is worthwhile. Whether it was my parents always going to our sporting events, or dragging me along to family functions, they showed me over and over that being a good friend just isn’t always convenient, but it is necessary. Through my work, I also learned that everyone is worthy of new relationships not just the person who will be signing the contracts. It is amazing how well you can do if you just help enough people realize that they are important, too.
